Spring Starter: The spring starter is a mechanical way of starting up the engine should all other safeguards fail. This is easily done by winding up a spring attached to a handle. By pressing a button, the spring is released and the engine is started mechanically, and no electricity/battery is required. Spring starters are reliable, versatile and rugged and are extensively used with a variety of lifeboat engines.
Hydraulic starters: The hydraulic starter and the associated system provide a sparkless, reliable method of engine starting at a wide temperature range. The system used to support the hydraulic starter includes valves, pumps, filters, a reservoir, and piston accumulators.
