Norsafe Munin S1200

General description

The high Speed patrol craft has excellent reliability, capability of maintaining high speed in heavy seas, and seakeeping abilities in order to fulfil its function. Design and construction fulfil the need for reliable, low maintenance standby and operation.

The boat is further designed to operate away for extended periods, with sufficient range for long time operation and large walk around cabin providing a protected and comfortable environment for crew and passengers.

The lay out and performance of the boat also allow it to perform other roles including, ambulance transport, navy patrol, light combat boat, police and security patrols, dive support, inspection, survey and work boat duties.

Hull and deck

The high Speed patrol craft is fabricated in multi axial glass fibre mats reinforced polyester (GRP) divinycell reinforced sandwich and vacuum infusion production method.

Two longitudinal bulkheads, three longitudinal stringers along the length of the hull and transverse bulkheads provide structural strength. The hull is a two stepped deep-V type with transom, giving optimum seakeeping ability at all speeds in all sea conditions.

The space between hull and inner liner is filled with buoyancy foam. If damaged below the waterline, the boat will float at safe level in fully flooded and loaded condition. The deck is self-bailing through two drainage outlets at the stern.

A heavy duty polyethylene fender protects the hull by absorbing impacts. The foam fender is protected by a double skin of reinforced PVC, secured with sail tracks at gunwale and chine level. The fender provides additional buoyancy.

The deck has an anti-slip surface. Lifelines and grab handles are fitted on the gunwale and cabin sides.

Propulsion system

The high Speed patrol craft is fitted with triple inboard diesel engines and suitable sterndrives, with the following features:

• Electrical starter with two independent batteries for each engine
• Fresh water engine cooling with heat exchanger to seawater cooling
• Fuel tanks located forward of the engines and filled through fittings on the cabin side
• Engine shut off system in case of capsize, provided by mercury switches
• Engine air intakes designed to prevent water ingress in case of capsize
• Wet exhaust system, with outlet at the transom, which expels water from the seawater engine cooling system

Cabin and deck fittings

The boat is equipped with a spacious walk around cabin with the following features:

• Seating for crew of 3-4 persons in separate seating positions. Seats are purpose designed with shock absorbing capabilities to provide comfort and equipped with 4-point safety belts
• Seating for maximum of 20 persons (including crew)
• Space for securely stowing two stretcher
• Console with steering position, engine controls and instruments, communications and radar equipment according to specification

The boat has also been designed to provide a protected and safe working environment for the crew, engine and equipment. It has the following additional features:

• Aft deck hinged engine covers gives access to engines, generator, bilge pumps, drive shafts.
• Equipment storages with hatches inside cabin
• Manual bilge pumps
• towing hook on aft deck
• Towing/mooring attachments mounted at each aft corner and on bow
• Secure grab handles throughout the boat

Further console fittings can be fitted according to customer requirements.
